Copper Bee Apiary

A garden apiary in Whittlesford, Cambridge, UK - honey bees and their beekeeper Hilary van der Hoff.

Christmas Eve

It’s a mild Christmas Eve, and the bees were flying in numbers today. Queen Kew’s hive was especially busy.

I think they come out mainly to stretch their wings - and to poo. There is not much forage around, although the shrub honeysuckle is flowering and I did see a bee returning to Queen Kew’s hive with pollen.

Merry Christmas from me and the bees. We look forward to the arrival of spring!
